World leading airline pilot training organisation, CTC Aviation (CTC) has gained approval from the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department (HKCAD) to conduct integrated training for the issue of Hong Kong CAD Commercial Pilot Licences. The approval was granted to CTC's New Zealand operation, CTC Aviation Training (NZ) Limited.
CTC is the only airline pilot training organisation in New Zealand - and only the second outside of Hong Kong - to be granted such an approval. It includes the ability to deliver Hong Kong Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) exams.
CTC and Dragonair cooperated together and worked closely with HKCAD to succeed in gaining the approval to deliver the training for the “Dragonair Cadet Pilot Programme.” This fully integrated training programme will see cadets selected, trained and placed as airline pilots directly with Dragonair
“This is an important milestone for CTC. The approval is the culmination of two years of hard work on the part of all concerned,” says Ian Calvert, Managing Director of CTC Aviation Training (NZ) Limited.
“Adding Dragonair to our expanding list of clients demonstrates our growing presence in the Asia Pacific region, - a significant market for CTC,” Mr Calvert continues.
The first course of 12 Dragonair Cadet Pilots started training in Hamilton, New Zealand in November 2012. They will undergo all training in New Zealand over 17 months. Following the training, the cadets will return to Hong Kong to continue with their type rating training.
Mr Calvert goes on to say, “CTC currently has 190 cadets in training in New Zealand from 15 countries around the world, training in association with 16 international Partner Airlines. Our new partnership with Dragonair will see a stream of pilots from Hong Kong being trained by CTC in the future.”
CTC Aviation delivers a comprehensive range of experienced and ab initio airline pilot training and resourcing solutions for client airlines worldwide. The company recently provided start up support for Africa’s newest airline, fastjet, which commenced operations in November with CTC pilots at the controls.
